Relationships, Health Education

RHE stands for Relationships, and Health Education.

From the Summer team, all primary schools will have to teach RHE.

In his introduction to the new curriculum policy, the Secretary of State outlined,

"Today’s children and young people are growing up in an increasingly complex world and living their lives seamlessly on and offline. This presents many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks. In this environment, children and young people need to know how to be safe and healthy, and how to manage their academic, personal and social lives in a positive way."

Together, along with the Science curriculum, the RHE curriculum aims to protect children by ensuring they have knowledge of their bodies, the human life-cycle, emotions, acceptable behaviour and right and wrong.

Our RSHE curriculum in Years 1-6 will come under six topics:

  • Healthy and happy friendships
  • Similarities and differences
  • Caring and responsibility
  • Families and committed relationships
  • Healthy bodies, healthy minds
  • Coping with change
