Smart Walk Pedestrian Training for Year 3 Pupils in Haringey


Seven Sisters Primary School has been chosen by Haringey Council to receive Smart Walk pedestrian training for all pupils in Year 3.


About Smart Walk

Smart Walk pedestrian training is one of a number of training courses that promotes healthy lifestyles and sustainable transport. It encourages walking as a fun mode of transport.

Smart Walk is delivered via an in-class presentation and a practical session, walking in the local area. Your child will learn:

  • Common road features and their names
  • How to walk safely on the pavement
  • How to safely cross driveways
  • How to locate and safely us crossings
  • How to recognise and avoid unsafe places to cross the road
  • Understanding traffic flow
  • Pupils in KS2 will have the opportunity at the end of their practical session to walk part of the route independently, under the observation of the Road Safety Trainers.


All training is carried out by fully trained Road Safety Trainers, who have enhanced DBS clearance.


Smart Walk is due to take place at Seven Sisters Primary on Wednesday 23rd November Your child will need:

  • Sufficient warm clothing including gloves (sessions are between 1 and 2 hours and are outside) High visibility tabards are provided.
  • Some wet weather clothing e.g. a shower or waterproof jacket as a minimum and preferably some over trousers. The training will continue in light to moderate rain but will be suspended if there is a heavy downpour.
